In Flux : Black Poetry Films

In Flux : Black Poetry Films is a creative accelerator program that was created by Phi Centre with the goal of mentoring and offering support to aspiring black filmmakers.

The Mandate

Working as Six Cinquième production’s lead designer, the team and I worked with PHI to develop the creative direction and the art direction for all visuals involved for the launch of the project’s call for submissions and its subsequent communications.

The Approach

The approach was to convey the idea of movement, evolution and constant flow of time. Thus, we took a photographic approach and used gradients, textures and overlays to create depth to reference time in an abstract and artistic way.

We also wanted to ensure that PHI took a backseat from the project’s communications and content, leaving room for the mentors and participants to be the main focus throughout the entire project.

The project culminated in a launch event premiering the short films created by the participants, which was a major success for all involved!
